Since our establishment 20 years ago, Quickslide has been pushing the boundaries of uPVC sash window design and manufacturing. Years ago, uPVC windows were limited in scope when it came to colour and heritage design aspects, but now our sliding sash windows can recreate the beauty traditionally only seen in timber frames!

These windows are suitable for modern or classic aesthetics, big manors, small country cottages, and everything in between. Learn more about how our sash window innovations have led to the creation of our Legacy sliding sash windows below, or get a price now on our website and become a Quickslide trade partner.

Benefits of uPVC Sliding Sash Windows

  • Long lasting
  • Minimal maintenance
  • Lightweight
  • Thermally Efficient
  • Secure

There are many reasons to choose modern materials like uPVC over traditional timber sash windows. While the beauty and heritage style of wood sliding sash windows are worth keeping, the difficulties involved can make them a hassle, especially when new innovations in uPVC manufacturing and development have led to authentic-looking sash windows that can accurately mimic true timber.

Firstly, uPVC sash windows can last for decades, easily over twenty years, with only minimal maintenance. This is because uPVC is a type of plastic that can withstand harsh weather conditions and when installed correctly these windows are unlikely to crack or warp. Where wooden windows can expand and contract in the heat or cold, leading to them getting stuck, uPVC can keep its shape for longer, leading to less repair costs over time. While old single glazed wooden sash windows could need sanding, varnishing, repainting, and even sash pulley repairs, all it takes to keep uPVC vertical sliders looking fresh is the occasional clean with soft cleaning solutions like soap and water.

Second, the materials used in our innovative sash windows are lightweight yet robust, allowing for easy and smooth operation without compromising security.

Third, uPVC frames are very thermally efficient. The hidden chambers within the plastic profile, often referred to as insulation pockets help to provide good thermal insulation as well as stabilise the window frame construction. When combined with our powerful argon gas-filled double glazed glass units, our sash windows can reach U-values as low as 1.4 W/m²K. Please note, a super low u-value of 1.2 is in development and will be launched in the second quarter of 2024.

Quickslide’s Sash Window Innovations

  • Slide and tilt
  • Trickle vents
  • Deep bottom rail
  • Slim midrail
  • PAS24 upgrade

Compared to heritage sites with old single-glazed sash windows that simply raise up and down via pulleys and counterweights, our modern sash window marvels can have a multitude of useful features. Some of these options include an easy slide and tilt facility, leading to much easier cleaning on both sides of the sashes. Plus, our well-placed trickle vents can improve air circulation and reduce condensation, even when the sashes are closed! This addition helps to make our vertical sliding windows compliant with the latest building regulations, which is a legal requirement for any home renovation.

Beyond our contemporary additions, we’ve always strived to recreate the unmatched beauty of heritage sliding sash windows. As part of our commitment to authenticity, we’ve developed our uPVC sash windows over the years to look as close to real timber windows as possible.

These traditional style sash window innovations include the deep bottom rail, run-through sash horns, and wool piles (which we offer in multiple different colours for a seamless finish), alongside our 90-degree mechanical joints and authentic looking woodgrain foils.

Our latest innovative uPVC sash window addition is our 37mm slim midrail that’s been designed to imitate the midrail found on the sleek frames of wooden sash windows. This slimmer design feature allows for improved sightlines, creating a much more authentic appearance when put side by side with traditional timber window sashes. Additionally, the slim midrail unlocks a whole new market for uPVC installations in conservation areas. Quickslide’s sash windows now satisfy both stringent historic building standards as well as the desire for outstanding energy performance.

We have always taken the security of our products seriously, and our PAS 24 upgrade package is one of our key enhancements over the traditional wood sash window design. Homeowners can stay secure and trust that their sliders’ locking mechanisms have been through vigorous operation and strength tests, and with our ten-year manufacturing guarantee, they can have total peace of mind.

By choosing Quickslide’s Legacy sliding sash, homeowners can get the best of both worlds: classic vertical sliding style with optimised energy efficiency and security.
