The slim casement window was introduced to meet the requirements of refurbishments and renewal projects, particularly in sensitive planning areas. With its ultra slimline profile and sightlines, this window system sits under our heritage range and is the ideal solution for replacing traditional steel windows.
Our slimline windows are fabricated using Smarts’ Alitherm Heritage aluminium profile. The slim aluminium profile provides a modern, light-weight, high-strength and cost-effective alternative to traditional steel window systems. It offers a wide range of benefits including reduced maintenance, increased lifespan and excellent thermal efficiency.
These slimline windows have been designed with not only performance and efficiency in mind but looks too. Its elegant slimline finish makes it ideal for both contemporary solutions where large panes of glass are required and traditional projects where maintaining the heritage elements is key.

The standard glass unit used in our aluminium windows is 28mm in depth and is comprised of 4mm clear glass to the outside, a warm edge spacer bar and 4mm clear Low E glass on the inside.
The inclusion of argon gas in to the cavity of a double-glazed unit reduces the heat conductance between the panes. This happens because the gas is 6 times denser that air.
Pilkington Optiphon is an acoustic laminated glass that offers excellent noise reduction without compromising on light transmittance or impact performance. Two 3mm pieces of glass are put together with a noise reducing interlayer typically 0.8mm thick. This glass offers the dual benefit of noise reduction and security.
Warm edge spacer bars insulate the edges of a sealed glass unit and separate the panes of glass. Traditionally, spacer bars were made of aluminium, however the warm edge spacer bar used in our glass units is an extruded PVC material specifically designed to reduce transference of heat between the panes of glass keeping more heat inside the property. The spacer bar is available in 3 different colours; grey, black and white.
Pilkington’s obscure glass range provides obscuration and decoration. All patterns are classified according to their level of obscurity in relation to each other, with 1 being least obscure and 5 being most obscure.
Our Venetian integral blinds come in a variety of 10 different colours to complement your chosen frame finish. Integral blinds are available on our complete product range excluding bespoke shapes. Please note that the operational device will always be positioned on the right-hand side (viewed internally).
Our aluminium windows come with the option to upgrade the security to our PAS 24:2016 security package. PAS 24 is a set standard with specifications as to which our aluminium windows have been tested against.
The PAS 24 upgrade includes:
The upgrade is generally mandatory on new-build projects.
In common with our entire aluminium range, such as our aluminium bi folding doors, the slim casement system incorporates our innovative polyamide thermal break technology. This creates a barrier between the cold outside and warm inside. The thermal conductivity of polyamide is a lot better than steel, which could you save you a considerable amount of money on heating.
Because the frame of our slim casement windows is as slim as it is, the glass specification is absolute key when it comes down to the energy rating. The window delivers an energy rating of up to ‘B’ and with a suitable sealed unit a u-value of 1.5 W/m²K.
