Quickslide featured in the Ideal Home Show for a second consecutive year, with its Legacy sliding sash windows once again taking centre stage inside the show’s featured show home. In collaboration with Britelite Windows, uPVC sliding sash windows from Quickslide were selected to feature throughout the show home, reinforcing their growing reputation among homeowners seeking authentic design without the drawbacks of traditional materials.
The Ideal Home Show has long been a key destination for homeowners looking for inspiration, practical advice and the latest innovations in home improvement. It’s one of the UK’s best known and longest running home events, with plenty of home improvement companies, industry experts, and even celebrities in attendance. Being chosen for the show home itself is a huge achievement, placing our sash windows in front of thousands of engaged visitors actively planning their own projects.
This year’s show home followed a ‘Modern Country’ theme, blending rustic charm with contemporary finishes. The Legacy sliding sash windows were a natural fit, helping to deliver that balance between heritage styling and modern-day performance. The chosen specification was carefully curated to reflect this aesthetic, featuring a white woodgrain finish for a softer, more traditional look, paired with a slim midrail to replicate classic timber frame proportions. Fully mechanical joints added to the authenticity, closely replicating the construction of traditional hand crafted timber sash windows, while black heritage hardware completed the overall appearance with a refined, period-inspired touch.
Throughout the event, visitor interest stayed strong. The Britelite team reported that their stand and the show home were busy, with a steady flow of homeowners stopping by to take a closer look at the windows. For many, seeing the products installed within a fully styled home environment made a noticeable difference, helping them visualise how the windows could work in their own properties.
One of the most popular talking points was value. Visitors were particularly impressed by how Legacy sash windows deliver the look and feel of traditional timber at a far more accessible price point. With rising costs continuing to influence home improvement decisions, this balance of authenticity and affordability clearly resonated.
Practicality was another key factor driving interest. The smooth slide-and-tilt functionality stood out to many visitors, offering a simple but highly effective solution for cleaning upper floors safely from inside the home. It’s a feature that often surprises those more familiar with traditional sash windows, and one that adds genuine day-to-day convenience without compromising on appearance.
Design, however, remained at the heart of the appeal. Many visitors commented on how well the windows complemented the ‘Modern Country’ theme, noting how effortlessly they blended into the overall look of the show home. The combination of traditional detailing and clean, modern finishes demonstrated the versatility of the Legacy windows, showing that sliding sash can feel just as at home in contemporary settings as they do in period properties.
Our continued presence within the Ideal Home Show home highlights the increasing demand for products that strike this balance. Homeowners are no longer willing to compromise between style and performance, or between authenticity and practicality. Instead, they are looking for solutions that deliver on all fronts.
