It’s easy to improve a home’s energy saving performance with Quickslide. Our modern double glazed home improvements are designed with heat retention, security, and style in mind. The Legacy sash window we manufacture is an excellent example of Quickslide’s dedication to performance innovation that maintains the aesthetics that homeowners love.
What Is Energy Efficiency?
As energy bills continue to climb, energy efficiency has become one of the most important factors in the home improvement sectors. In simple terms, energy efficiency within the glazing industry refers to how well the window, door, insulation, etc., maximises the use of heat within a home or commercial building. The better a sash window’s energy efficiency, the longer a home can remain warm, reducing the overall need for artificial heating to stay comfortable.
An increase in a home’s energy efficiency can allow homeowners to reduce the overall amount of energy they consume year on year. Many older and conservation properties have sliding sash windows (also known as vertical sliders or vertical sash windows) that are decades old and are likely single glazed. Upgrading to contemporary models can make a big difference, and allow the homeowner to not only stay warmer with less effort but could even let them save money on their bills and reduce their overall carbon footprint.
Double Glazed Sash Windows
- Specialised argon gas
- Double glazing
- Better sound insulation
- Increased security
- A rated
With Quickslide, our uPVC sash windows come with double glazing as standard. All our double glazed sash window units are filled with a specialised argon gas, which is much more efficient than air. Double glazed sash windows can offer more than just enhanced energy efficiency; they also have the benefit of better sound insulation alongside increased security.
One of the key ways to tell the thermal performance capabilities of a sash window, door, or any other home improvement glazed product is via the WER scale or Window Energy Rating scale. The WER scale goes from ‘G’ up to ‘A++’ rating. As standard, our Legacy uPVC sliding sash windows reach an ‘A’ rating with our double glazed units and multi chambered uPVC frames. With all their contemporary features taken into account, in an optimal environment, our classic looking sash windows can reach U-values as low as 1.4W/m²K with further enhancements in development as we speak. Modern Performance Meets Classic Style
One of the main reasons that homeowners give for not upgrading their older property’s windows is the period authenticity that old Victorian, Georgian, or Edwardian style sash windows provide. With Quickslide, however, customers can receive the best of both worlds: excellent efficiency and performance, alongside gorgeous traditional style.
Because our modern double glazed sash windows are crafted from high quality uPVC, we’re proud to offer a range of finishes, including a bespoke colour bonding service and woodgrain foils to maintain a traditional timber appearance. A unique colour combination is also possible, with different internal and external colours. Multichambered heat retaining uPVC profiles with the picture perfect appearance of wooden windows are easy to achieve when you choose Quickslide as your sash window supplier.
But our authenticity goes beyond colour. We also have various optional features that take the traditional to the next level. These include a deep bottom rail, run through sash horns, an ovolo shaped weather bar, and unique astragal bars for your choice of Victorian, Georgian, or Edwardian glazing design. We even have 90-degree mechanical joints available which replace the usual 45-degree uPVC weld.
As of March 2024, we’ll also have the addition of a slim midrail available for our Legacy sash windows. The slimmer midrail provides increased sightlines and an even closer appearance that matches the classic proportions of a timber sliding sash.
