Bifold doors are a statement addition to any home and so choosing the right colour is important. Bifold doors are available in grey or white from stock. In recent times grey bifold doors have come to be the most popular, given the sleek and modern appeal it brings to any home and ability to seamlessly blend into any type of stonework or rendering. White bifold doors are more traditional and match well with most PVCu windows. You also have the option of requesting dual colour e.g. grey on the outside and white on the inside. Other colours are available upon request but may be subject to a minimum order quantity. Please get in touch to discuss.

Hardware Colour Options

The hardware available on our aluminium bifolding doors has been designed with aesthetics and functionality in mind and the final door solution reflect this. Please note that our D handle is only available in black matching the hinges.

The standard glass unit used in our aluminium bifolding door is 28mm in depth and is comprised of 4mm toughened clear glass to the outside, a warm edge spacer bar and 4mm toughened clear Low E glass on the inside.

Warm edge spacer bars insulate the edges of a sealed glass unit and separate the panes of glass. Traditionally, spacer bars were made of aluminium, however the warm edge spacer bar used in our glass units is an extruded PVC material specifically designed to reduce transference of heat between the panes of glass keeping more heat inside the property. The spacer bar is available in 3 different colours; grey, black and white.

Performance

Brighter Home

Due to the inherent strength of aluminium, we can afford to fit a wider glass surface, giving you endless views of your Cambridge garden. The double and triple glazing that we fit into our aluminium bifold doors will utilise the surroundings and flood your property with natural daylight.

Thermal Performance

As standard, 28mm double glazing is fitted into our aluminium bifold doors. The glass panes retain your Cambridge home’s natural heat, improving its insulation. Our aluminium bifold doors can achieve U-values as low as 1.5W/m2K. If you choose to upgrade to 36mm triple glazing, you can achieve a U-value of 1.3w/m2K.

Weather-Resistance

We never know what the weather will bring, and it can be difficult to prepare for it. However, our aluminium bifold doors are designed to adapt to each weather condition to protect your Cambridge home. EPDM gaskets and weather brushes will help you keep feeling comfortable.

Durable

Our aluminium bifold doors can provide you with years of performance. Your local installers will help you from start to finish in your next home improvements project. Each of our aluminium bifold doors come with a ten-year manufacturing guarantee. If something were to go wrong, our installers are on hand to help.

Inspiration

If your door is making a rattling noise it is likely to be an issue with the compression of the lock. Adjustments can be made using a correct sized Allen key to turn the cams to achieve the correct compression. If the ratting noise continues or if you are having trouble fixing the issue, please call your installer to ask for advice.

If the door is going to be installed between the brickwork and the aperture is square and level, you should deduct 10mm from the total brick-to-brick width and height. We have a very thorough bi-fold installation guide available to read on our website.

Our bi-folding doors will arrive unglazed. The glass units will be delivered at the same time as the doors but will need to be installed once the frame and doors are in. To prevent the glass in the panels from dropping, you should make sure you have toe and heeled the glass. A guide on how to toe and heel the glass can be found in the last section of our installation guide.

Yes, you can fit trickle vents to our bi-folding doors after manufacture if you have the correct tools. However, we don’t advise you to do this, as it may damage the panel and/or frame and would incur a cost to fix or replace.

Yes, our DV173 low threshold option has the facility to have aluminium ramps attached at no extra cost. With the addition of the ramps the threshold will comply with Part M of the Building Regulation (DV174). See our building regulation guide for more information.

Firstly, if your bi-folding doors are hard to slide, please check and make sure the frame is square and plum. All gaskets should measure 11mm between the frame and panel and the rebated locking side should measure 14mm between the frame and panel. If the doors are still hard to slide, please check that the door has been toe and heeled correctly. If you are unsure if the door has been toe and heeled correctly, we recommend you to get in touch with your installer and ask them to check this.

Bifolding door prices vary depending on each project and its dimension and design. Our bespoke and competitive pricing is completely unique and based on each individual project. We recommend you to use our online quoting engine to design your new doors and request a price.

Bifolding door installation can be complex and requires experience from installing a variety of other products. If you need more information about installing our products, we have a fantastic installation guide at your disposal. If you are a homeowner and require an installer, we can show you a list of local installers for you to choose from.

Bi-fold doors are suitable for any home as they offer the greatest choice of width and height flexibility; a two-panel version can even replace a French door. With bi-folding doors you’ll naturally increase the brightness of your living space and the added wow factor may even increase the value of your home. Generally, bi-fold doors are a great idea. The only time you may want to think twice before choosing bi-fold doors is for period homes, where traditional and classical products such as a French door may be a more suitable option. Having said that, traditional colour options allow you to add an element of tradition to the doors.
