Description
This was certainly the case with a recent Georgian-style property in a South Lincolnshire village.
The home’s original timber sliding sash windows had seen better days. Years of use had taken their toll, leaving them difficult to operate and increasingly expensive to maintain. In fact, the homeowners had reached a point where some windows could no longer open at all.
Located within a conservation area, the new windows needed to stay true to the property’s original look. Proportions, bar layouts and window finish all had to closely match the existing window design, while still delivering the benefits of a modern, low-maintenance solution. Here’s where Quickslide came into play.
Jackson Windows specified nine Legacy sliding sash windows from Quickslide, all in a white woodgrain finish. Careful attention to detail ensured the new installation stayed true to the original aesthetic, with run-through sash horns, mechanical joints, a deep bottom rail and a traditional astragal bar layout recreating the classic Georgian style.
Not only does the property retain its original charm, but it now benefits from smooth operation, improved energy efficiency and far easier maintenance. For the homeowners, one of the biggest changes is also the simplest, being able to open and close their windows again with ease.
“We are delighted to deliver on this brief, providing high-performance solutions that enhance modern living while remaining sympathetic to the property’s original character,” explains Jonathan Brewer, Head of Sales at Jackson Windows. He adds that careful attention to detailing was key throughout the project to ensure it aligned with conservation area requirements.
The tilt function has also made a noticeable impact, turning what was once a difficult cleaning job into something quick and straightforward.
And it’s not just the homeowners who’ve noticed the transformation. A neighbour commented on how closely the new windows replicate traditional timber, a detail that speaks volumes in a conservation setting.
Jonathan goes on to say: “We continue to see an increase in demand for heritage-style home improvements, including an energy-efficient uPVC alternative to timber sliding sash windows.”
Jackson Windows has worked with Quickslide for around four years, with demand for sliding sash windows growing steadily, particularly over the past 12 months. With many heritage properties across the region, options like Quickslide’s Legacy Premier offering continue to prove popular, offering the right balance of authentic detailing and modern performance.
It’s in response to this increased demand that the two companies have started working closer together. Sophie Wetherall, Assistant Marketing Manager at Tradeglaze, highlighted Quickslide’s “exceptional level of service.” Quickslide has been hard at work supporting Tradeglaze with “high-quality showroom displays” and “in-depth staff training” to really make the most of the ongoing partnership.
Projects like this show what’s possible when experience, attention to detail and the right products come together. By combining authentic design with modern performance, Jackson Windows and Quickslide have delivered a solution that respects the past while making everyday living that bit easier. It’s a result that not only meets conservation demands, but quietly improves how the home works for years to come.
